Handlung The conflict between Abe no Yasuna and Ashiya Michitaru about the sacred book of Yin and Yang, “Kin’u Gyokuto Shu.” Abe no Yasuna who lived in Abeno, Settsu no Kuni, saved a white fox that was chased by hunters in the forest of Shinoda in Izumi no Kuni. Yasuna got hurt on his saving the fox and then the fox turned into the form of Yasuna’s fiancée, Princess Kuzu no ha and took care of him. They got married and had a son called Doshimaru. However when Doshimaru was 5 years old, they found out the true identity of Kuzu no ha. She went back to the forest of Shinoda, leaving the poem behind. Yasuna and Doshimaru follow her to the forest. It is said that Doshimaru is Abe no Seimei.

Anmerkungen Jidai mono. It developed out of the traditional literature, "Shinoda duma." It was first performed as a puppet play at Takemoto Theatre in Osaka in October, 1734.　　First performed as Kabuki at Nakamura Tomijuro Theatre in Kyoto in February of the following year. Only the fourth act, "Kuzu no ha kowakare" is usually performed and is known as "Kuzu no ha."
