Bando Matataro IV was a son of Arshi Otohachi I, an older brother of Arashi Otohachi II, and a student of Ichimura Uzaemon VIII. He first appeared as a koyaku (child role) at the Nakamura Theater in November of 1747. In November of 1753 he became Bando Matataro. He was particularly good at evil enemies (kataki yaku). He was active from 1747 to 1799. |
