| Plot | Tokubei, a clerk in a local Osaka store, is prepared to ransom his love, Ohatsu, from her courtesan life in the Temmaya house. However Tokubei is tricked out of his money and then faces persecution by his uncle. Ohatsu shares Tokubei's downfall and agrees to go off to commit double suicide. |
