| Plot | The Genji clan leaders Shigetada and Munetsura call Akoya, a courtesan intimate with Kagekiyo, to the court to force her to reveal Kagekiyo's whereabouts. Shigetada orders Akoya to play the koto, shamisen, and kokyu, reasoning that if she can play the instruments without fault her conscious must be untroubled. Akoya, knowing her lover's saftey depends on her composure, steels herself and plays superbly. |
