| Notes | Character types: young female roles (waka onnagata). Group affiliations: Yoneya; Wataya. Osagawa Tsuneyo II was a student of Osagawa Tsuneyo I and took the name Osagawa Shichizo. In 1763 he played child roles at the Ichimura Theater in Edo. In 1768 he changed his name to Osagawa Tsuneyo II and played young female roles. He last performed at the Kawarazaki Theater in March 1805. He was one of the three best young female role actors, had good looks and a good voice, and was skilled at dance (shosagoto). He was active from 1768 to 1805. |
