Notes The Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus commissioned Balanchine (choreographer) and Stravinsky (composer) to create this ballet for elephants for their 1942 tour season. In performance, the elephant handlers dressed as ballet dancers, and the elephants wore elephant-sized tutus. SFPALM
