Intrigue A young girl receives a toy nutcracker during a Christmas party. During her dreams that night, the Nutcracker and her other toys come alive to wage battle with mice. Clara and her Nutcracker are victorious, and the rest of the story is filled with a fantasy about winter beauty and sugary sweets.
Notes Based on the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E.T.A. Hoffman. First performed in St. Petersburgh at the Maryinsky Theatre in 1892, the Nutcracker was introduced to the US during the San Francisco Ballet's first American full-length production of the ballet in 1944. Since then, it has become a Christmas tradition in the US. SFPALM
