Matsumoto Koshiro V was a son of Koshiro III (Omegawa Kyojuro). He initially was Ichikawa Junzo I and first appeared on stage at the Nakamura Theater in Edo in 1770. Two years later he became Ichikawa Komazo III and played child roles. In 1778 he started playing young male roles. Ichikawa Komazo was the best actor of 1830s. As he had a high beaked nose, he was called Hanadaka (high nose) Koshiro. |
