備考 [主な役柄:実悪。屋号:正月屋。 紋:矢、四角が三ヶ 仙石彦助の門人、仙国彦十郎の長男。初め仙国左六と名乗る。1742年仙国佐十郎と改め、市村座に敵役として初舞台を踏む。1748年坂田半五郎(二代目)を襲名する。1759年実悪で好評。1782年市村座に出演中、急病のため、亡くなる。実悪はトップクラスで器用な芸で人気があった。寛保2年(1742年)から天明2年(1782年)に活躍する。]

His name was initially Sengoku Saroku; in 1742 he changed it to Sengoku Sajuro and first appeared on stage in an evil enermy role at the Ichimura Theater. In 1749 he became Sakata Hangoro II. Around 1759 he became popular by palying arch-villains (jitsuaku). In 1782 he became sick while performing at the Ichimura Theater and passed away. He was a top-ranked actor of arch-villains and popular due to his skillful performance. He was active from 1742 to 1782.
