備考 [主な役柄:立役、実悪、和事、実事、所作事。屋号:高麗屋。 紋: 京都に生まれる。1744年江戸に下り、瀬川菊之丞(初代)の門人となり、瀬川金吾と名乗る。翌年色子として中村座で初舞台を踏む。1749年若衆方として勤める。1754年市村座で瀬川錦次と改め、立役を勤める。2年後、市川団十郎(四代目)の門人となり、市川武十郎と名乗る。1762年松本幸四郎(二代目)の門人となり、市川染五郎と改める。1772年松本幸四郎(四代目)を襲名する。翌年、市川高麗蔵(二代目)と改める。1778年中村座の座頭となる。1780年越後の舞台に勤め、借金ができる。1801年男女川京十郎と改めるが、翌年舞台から消える。口跡、台詞が上手いので有名だった。延享1年(1744年)から享和2年(1802年)に活躍する。]

Omegawa Kyojuro was born in Kyoto and in 1744 went to Edo and became a student of Segawa Kikunojo I. He first appeared the following year as iroko at the Nakamura Theater. In 1749 he performed as a young male role (wakashu), and in 1754 he changed his name to Segawa Kinji and performed as male leads (tachiyaku) at the Ichimura Theater. Two years later he became a student of Ichikawa Danjuro IV and took the name Ichikwa Takejuro. In 1762 he became a student of Matsumoto Koshiro II and changed his name to Ichikawa Somegoro, and the following year he changed his name again to Ichikawa Komazo II. In 1772 he became Matsumoto Koshiro IV. In 1778 he became a theater leader at the Nakamura Theater, and two years later he worked at a theater in Echigo and acquired a huge debt. The following year he changed his name to Omegawa Kyojuro and retired a year later. He was noted for voice and diction. He was active from 1744 to 1802.
